Melissa McCarthy
Melissa McCarthy is a national treasure, but this Valentine's Day-esque ensemble is anything but. If Barbie ever teamed up with Russell Stover for a fashion collab, we imagine the results would look quite similar to McCarthy's red and pink gown at the 2024 Oscars. It's certainly eye-catching, but we weren't sold on its silhouette. From the asymmetrical ruching at the waist to the peekaboo puffed satin sleeves, the misguided details in this design were a huge letdown.
Kirsten Dunst
Kirsten Dunst is a bonafide style icon, so we were somewhat puzzled by her decision to rock such a stripped-down style on the 2024 Oscars red carpet. Unfortunately, the star's choice of an inoffensive white slip dress was rather boring, though she looked marvelous nonetheless. That said, the old adage that the stars are just like us rings true here — even legendary trendsetters like Dunst must need to take a break from working overtime every now and then.
Rachael Penfold
Visual effects studio CEO Rachael Penfold stepped out with hubby Jonathan Glazer on the 2024 Oscars red carpet in matching black attire. However, Penfold's gilded top is what landed her on Glam's worst-dressed list. We love the overall concept — and Penfold's sultry 1920s glam — but the details of her gold bodice left something to be desired. The fraying, feathery hem of the metallic top took away from the beauty of the black and gold ensemble, and we found ourselves wishing we could trim it away.
Brittany Snow
In case there was any confusion, Brittany Snow seems to be letting everyone know that spring is just around the corner. The star's sunny, strapless gown was a bold choice to wear to the Oscars, but it failed to make a positive impression. Though Snow looked as gorgeous as ever, we were underwhelmed by its simplistic design. The garment's awkward fit and wrinkled skirt didn't help, giving us little choice but to include Snow on our worst-dressed list.
Erika Alexander
If we could summarize Erika Alexander's look at the 2024 Oscars in one word, it's unforgettable. That said, we're still not entirely sure how to feel about the actor and producer's busy dress at this year's event. From the colorful hem, reminiscent of birthday cake layers, to the sheer black skirt and miniature train, there was a lot happening in Alexander's gown. We liked certain bits and pieces of the get-up, but altogether, it was a touch overwhelming.
Jodie Foster
Jodie Foster has been a fixture of the Academy Awards since 1977, but her 2024 carpet look wasn't our fave. Her demure navy gown certainly had some beautiful details, like a shimmering full-length skirt that evoked the night sky. Still, we wished she'd jazzed things up more with some sparkling accessories to play on the celestial theme. Without them, the sleeveless style didn't have much star power.
Jennifer Lawrence
On paper, Jennifer Lawrence's 2024 Oscars look has it all: unexpected details, a vintage-inspired silhouette, and tasteful styling. But somehow, this throwback design didn't quite land in reality. While its tailoring was impeccable, the polka-dotted print of Lawrence's gown was slightly dizzying. We also wished she would have gone with old Hollywood waves or curls instead of a limp, slicked-back 'do.
Margot Robbie
Margot Robbie has had an impeccable run on awards show red carpets lately, but her 2024 Oscars look simply bored us to tears.
